Potential good news for people looking to buy a BMW
Everyone is looking for a good deal. Even BMW buyers want to save money when they are in the market for a new BMW. Saving money on your next BMW is sometimes easier than you think. And thanks to the recent news with Mercedes, potential year-end shoppers could be in luck.
According to recent reports over at Motor Trend, Mercedes may catch BMW with their recent release of the Mercedes CLA. Featuring a front-wheel drive layout (with a all-wheel drive variant coming 2014) the CLA offers buyers a budget Mercedes with a starting MSRP of $29,990. In a little over one week, the CLA posted strong sales numbers of 2,300 units. Now comparing initial sales versus sales over the lifetime of the model does not yield an accurate count for sure, but this is good news for Mercedes who has lost to the Bavarian Juggernaut (trademark pending) the last two years in sales. However, this may translate to consumers as well.
While, automakers look at performance numbers on a per month basis to adjust sales and incentives accordingly, the end of the year is where they all make their big push. Every year towards the end of the year, automakers will throw money, hand over fist, at consumers in an effort to earn their business. It's one of the reasons why I went from looking at a 328i lease to an ActiveHybrid 3. I netted almost $12k from all of the incentives that I qualified for in December of 2012. Granted some of that was from working at a BMW center, most of it was available to John Q Public. And the public may be in position to take advantage of these sales at the end of 2013 this year too. When you hear from people that "December is the best time to buy a car" they're not lying. While not every brand will offer crazy incentives, there is always a company pushing to get a few more wheels over the curb.
It is too early to tell what BMW is going to do. Especially when you consider the fact that the new X5 will be launching soon, which is always a great seller and they recently released the BMW 4 series coupe. However, traditionally November is when BMW starts to make their push. Make sure to do your research on what models are available and how many of them are out there. You can also use sites such as Edmunds to find out all of the incentives available for the car that you are in the market for.
